HOBBTON -- Rosewood played good defense throughout a 28-6 loss to Hobbton on Friday night.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, three big plays spelled their demise.
The Wildcats got on the board early when a Rosewood drive ended abruptly on a tipped pass that turned into an interception. Hobbton's Ira Moore returned the pick 85 yards to the end zone.
"That was a big play because we were at the 10-yard line and had a chance to score," said Rosewood head coach Robert Britt. "Instead of six points for us, it turned into six points for them."
On the Wildcats' next possession, Eli Chestnutt broke a 70-yard touchdown run. Chestnutt added a 50-yard scoring run in the second quarter to make the score 21-0.
"Our defense actually played really well for most of the night," said Britt. "If you take out the two big runs, we held them to 70 yards of offense."
Jamie Wooten scored the Eagles' lone touchdown in the third quarter on a 16-yard tote.
Logan Waters led the Rosewood offense with 90 yards on 28 carries. Wooten added 48 yards on the ground. The Eagles did not complete a pass in the contest.
Rosewood (1-2 overall) plays host to Midway on Friday.
