PRINCETON -- A slow start kept Princeton off the scoreboard in the first quarter and Dixon grabbed an early lead toward its 26-15, non-conference victory Friday evening.
Dixon jumped out to a 19-0 lead during the first half before Princeton finally drew blood. Javontae Davis broke a 53-yard scoring run late in the second quarter and revived his team's hopes.
"We just waited way too long to get anything going," said Dawgs head coach Russell Williamson. "You cannot spot a good team a lead like that and expect to win the ballgame."
Trailing 26-6 in the fourth quarter, it was Davis again who ignited the home crowd. A six-yard scoring run capped the offensive night for Princeton.
Davis finished with 78 yards on the ground and 28 yards receiving. Brad Williamson completed 17 passes for 158 yards. Allen Cooke grabbed three catches for 71 yards.
Princeton (1-2 overall) welcomes county rival North Johnston on Friday.
