Roanoke Rapids edges Spring Creek in boys' soccer

WILSON -- David Vega and Victor Ortiz notched one goal apiece in Spring Creek's 3-2 loss to perennial 2-A powerhouse Roanoke Rapids in The Brittany VI on Friday evening.
Dante Ortiz assisted on Victor's goal.
It was the season-opening game for the Gators, who are ranked No. 7 in the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association 1-A poll.
Spring Creek (0-1-0 overall) entertains James Kenan on Monday. Kickoff is 5 p.m. at "The Swamp."
