R.J. Reynolds 5,

Greene Central 4

* WINSTON-SALEM -- R.J. Reynolds emerged victorious in two of three doubles matches and turned back Greene Central, 5-4, during the Twin Cities Invitational. The teams battled for four-plus hours.

"We went toe-to-toe with one of the most-storied 4-A programs in North Carolina, and held our own for over four hours," said GC head coach Donald Clark. "We were certainly disappointed with the loss, but I felt like our team learned a lot during this match."

Brittany Colie, Laurie Sutton and Kayla Radford each earned a singles point for the Rams. The third-seeded tandem of Sutton-Radford collected the team's lone doubles victory.

The teams played 10-game pro sets.

Cardinal Gibbons 9,

Greene Central 0

* WINSTON-SALEM -- Cardinal Gibbons swept the singles and doubles matches, and dealt Greene Central a 9-0 defeat on day two of the Twin Cities Invitational contested at Hanes Park.

The Rams exited the event 0-3.

"Cardinal Gibbons played very well," said GC head coach Donald Clark. "They were a lot more patient than us today."

Greene Central's Jessica Hatch dropped a 10-5 decision at No. 2 singles. The second-seeded duo of Brittany Colie-Hayes Lovett played strong in a 10-7 loss.

The Rams (4-3 overall) visit Arendell-Parrott Academy today. The Patriots are directed by former GC boys' head tennis coach Brad Sauls.
