Rosewood put the finishing touches on the Carolina 1-A Conference women's regular-season soccer championship with a 6-0 victory over Goldsboro on Thursday night at Branch Pope Field.

Chelsea Sasser and Kelsey Wolfe both scored for the Eagles in the first half.

Gabrielle Cornman scored three consecutive goals in the second half. Holly Heath added a goal.

Logan Bill, Jennifer Liles, Francesca Vercels-Zara, Chelsea Sasser, Rachyle McAlduff and Kailey Adams each provided an assist.

Rosewood outshot Goldsboro 21-5.

The Eagles and Cougars were scheduled to meet again today, but Goldsboro forfeited the game due to a school-related field trip.

Rosewood (11-4 overall, 6-0 CC) didn't allow a goal in conference play this season.

WCS rolls

ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Christian benefited from 25 walks and dominated Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 33-5 in five innings on Thursday afternoon.

The Eagles scored nine runs in both the first and fifth innings.

Reagan Hinton and Kayla Kennedy each collected three hits for Wayne Christian. Rachel McCollum picked up the win on the mound.

Wayne Christian (9-4 overall) was originally scheduled to play Community Christian in the semifinals of the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference tournament. Community forfeited the game, putting the Eagles into today's championship contest against defending state champion Cape Fear Christian.

Warriors win

ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Christian won its third consecutive match with a 6-3 victory at Faith Christian-Rocky Mount on Thursday.

Christopher Easom, Daniel Glover, Kenneth Giordano and Nicholas Easom all recorded singles wins for the Eagles. The doubles teams of Christopher Easom-Glover and Giordano-Nicholas Easom were also victorious.

Wayne Christian (8-3 overall) entertains Flora McDonald on Tuesday.

Girls' track

Warriors win

FOUR OAKS -- Eastern Wayne earned five first-place finishes and claimed the 2010 Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference women's track and field championship contested at South Johnston.

The Warriors recorded 109 team points.

North Lenoir finished second with 86 points. South Johnston (82), Southern Wayne (81), Triton (74) and Charles B. Aycock (46) rounded out the field.

Tiarra McIntyre recorded first-place honors in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, and the high jump for the Warriors. McIntyre was selected as the ECC runner of the year.

Rajanee Boyette added a first-place finish in the 400 meters.

Eastern Wayne won the 800-meter relay. The foursome was Boyette, Tiana Dortch, Brianna Coleman and Ayanna De Cruz.
