Faith Christian advanced to the N.C. Christian Schools Athletic Association Class 2-A baseball playoffs with a 6-5 win over Falls Road in the Coastal Region 2-A tournament on Tuesday.

Brandon Jones led the Conquerors with three hits and an RBI. Matt Lambert provided two hits and an RBI. Nick Gourley added a hit and two RBI.

Lambert tossed 4 1/3 innings on the mound.

Faith (12-0 overall) begins state playoff action on Friday in Cramerton.

Falcons fall

KINSTON -- Kinston scored three unearned runs in the home half of the sixth inning, and rallied past non-conference foe Charles B. Aycock 4-3 on Tuesday night.

The Vikings trailed 3-1 before scoring three times thanks to two Golden Falcons' errors and a passed ball.

Connor Narron collected a triple and an RBI for Aycock. Adron Hollowell, Nicholas McGee, Cameron Taylor and Travis Musselman each had a hit.

Aaron Champion endured the loss on the mound, surrendering three unearned runs on four hits with no walks in one inning of relief.

The Golden Falcons (20-4 overall) entertain Southern Wayne in the semifinals of the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tournament on Thursday night.

Softball

Saints sink Vikings

KINSTON -- Taylor Parker just missed throwing a no-hitter as Southern Wayne defeated non-conference opponent Kinston 11-1 in six innings on Tuesday.

Parker surrendered a base hit with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, and allowed one unearned run with eight strikeouts and three walks in a complete game.

Madison Davis paced the Saints with three hits and four RBI. Parker and Taylor Davis both supplied two hits and two RBI. Darian Edwards (RBI) and Kayla Gracyk each had two hits. Hope Rose added a hit and an RBI as Southern Wayne finished with 12 hits.

The Saints visit Princeton today.

CBA places 2nd

FOUR OAKS -- Charles B. Aycock tallied 114 team points and finished second behind host South Johnston at the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference championships on Tuesday.

The Trojans compiled 209 points to claim the championship. North Lenoir was third with 104 points, while Eastern Wayne was fourth with 44. Triton (41) and Southern Wayne (19) rounded out the six-team event.

Caleb Scott finished first in the shot put for the Golden Falcons. Cade Ivey crossed the line first in the 800 meters. Aycock was also first in the 800 meter and 3,200 meter relays.

Tennis

Warriors top Gryphons

ROCKY MOUNT -- Eastern Wayne turned back Rocky Mount 7-2 in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A dual-team playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.

Chaz Fitzpatrick, Russell Turner, Mike Barnette, Joe DiCesare and Mike Ames each recorded singles wins for the Warriors.

The doubles teams of Fitzpatrick-Barnette and Turner-Aaron Dunmire were also victorious.

Eastern Wayne (14-2 overall) travels to Union Pines on Monday.

Eagles stumble

Raleigh Charter handed Rosewood a 6-1 loss in the first round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A dual-team state playoffs on Tuesday.

Antonio Henriques recorded the lone singles win for the Eagles.

Rosewood, which finished the season 12-2 overall, begins play in the 1-A eastern regionals on Friday at Herman Park.
