LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir got a solid outing from starting pitcher Aaryn Deal en route to a 6-1 win over Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Eastern Wayne on Friday night.
Deal allowed four hits, one run and struck out five in the complete game performance.
Brea Langley belted two hits including a double to lead the Hawks at the plate. Dani Robinson added a hit and two RBI.
North Lenoir (10-8 overall, 4-5 ECC) will travel to South Johnston on Tuesday for a makeup game. Eastern Wayne (5-13, 1-9) will wait until later in the week to see who their opponent will be in the opening round of the conference tournament.
Rebels rise up
CALYPSO -- North Duplin got four runs in the fourth and bested Ayden-Grifton 6-2 on the Carolina 1-A Conference softball scene Friday night.
Kailey Odom led the Rebels at the plate with one hit and one RBI in two at-bats. Skyler McCarty finished 1-for-3 with one RBI. Angelica Favela added one hit for the Rebels.
Ansley Hill pitched a complete game to earn the victory. Hill scattered four hits and struck out two batters.
North Duplin (5-7 overall, 4-3 CC) will travel to Rosewood on Tuesday.
Baseball
North Duplin wins
CALYPSO -- North Duplin pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 4-3 win over Carolina 1-A Conference rival Ayden-Grifton on Friday night.
James Kornegay paced the victors with two hits,including a double, and an RBI. Marcus Kornegay and Mitchell Thigpen each added two hits in the win.
Shayne Deaver tossed five innings and got a no-decision. Larry White picked up the mound win in relief for North Duplin (12-4 overall, 5-3 CC).
The Rebels will travel to Rosewood on Tuesday.

* Baseball: North Lenoir 6, Eastern Wayne 4 -- Jake may led the Warriors with three hits and two RBI. Jeremy Lancaster, Nolan James and Ryan Mitchell eacch added two hits in the defeat. Brian Hardy paced the Hawks with a three-hit night. Caleb Kearney earned the win on the pitcher's mound by tossing an eight-inning complete game.
