DUDLEY -- Eastern Wayne scored in each inning and rolled past Southern Wayne 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday night at the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex.

The Warriors moved within one victory of earning a share of the 2010 Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference regular-season championship. Eastern Wayne visits North Lenoir on Friday evening.

"All we can do is win the games in front of us and take care of our business," said Warriors head coach Jabo Fulghum. "Tonight we did a nice job and everybody hit the ball. We need to do the same thing on Friday."

The visitors wasted no time getting their offense on track in the Tuesday twilight. Colton Fulghum led off the game with a double, Cambric Moye was hit by a pitch and Zach Beachem belted a three-run home run to right field.

The script was essentially the same one inning later.

Michael Fields led off by reaching on an error, Josh Frederick singled and two batters later Moye blasted a three-run bomb over the left-field foul pole.

A second Saint error led to an additional run in the top of the third inning.

"There isn't much to say tonight," said Southern Wayne head coach Trae McKee. "When you give a good team extra outs in every inning then bad things happen."

Eastern Wayne (12-9 overall, 8-1 ECC) ended the game with two runs in the top of the fifth.

After two men were out, Fields singled and was followed by a double from Frederick. Colton Fulghum put the Warriors ahead by 10 runs with a two-RBI double.

Zack Mozingo closed the mercy rule-shortened game in the bottom half of the stanza. Mozingo earned the mound win by scattering five hits and striking out five batters.

"Tonight was the second consecutive good outing for Zack," said Fulghum. "He was sharp tonight and we played some pretty good defense behind him."

Will Raynor suffered the mound loss for the Saints.

Southern Wayne (11-10, 3-6) entertains Spring Creek today.
