FAYETTEVILLE -- State-ranked Fayetteville Christian collected three sixth-inning runs and turned back perennial 1-A independent softball power Wayne Christian 7-6.
The Eagles (7-3 overall) were held scoreless until they scored six runs in the final three innings. However, five errors proved crucial in the non-conference road loss.
Rachel McCollum paced Wayne Christian's offense with three hits in four at-bats. Sarah McCollum and Kayla Kennedy each batted 2-for-4 with a double. Reagan Hinton contributed two hits.
Ashley Thompson finished 1-for-4.
Rachel McCullom threw a complete game and endured the pitching loss.
The Eagles travel to Parrott Academy on Tuesday.
