KINSTON -- Kinston exploded for 15 runs on 15 hits, including six home runs, during a 15-2 victory over Carolina League foe Myrtle Beach at historic Grainger Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The K-Tribe (7-10 overall) claimed their first series of the season.

Kinston belted three home runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the first time since 2007 against Potomac. Overall, every Kinston batter hit safely in the offensive explosion, including Davis, who batted 3-for-5 with two home runs.

Karexon Sanchez, Doug Pickens, Montero and Kipnis provided two hits apiece. Sanchez, Pickens and Pena each drove in three runs.

K-Tribe hurlers Nick Hagadone and T.J. McFarland combined for a solid outing on the mound. Hagadone surrendered five hits and one earned run in three innings, while McFarland claimed his second decision with a four-hit effort in six innings.

Kinston, which has won six of its last seven games, will enjoy an off day today before playing host to Lynchburg on Tuesday. UNC alum and Greenville native Alex White is expected to start on the hill.

First pitch is 7 p.m.

Mudcats

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Mike Stanton hit one of his two homers during a seven-run, sixth-inning outburst; and Jacksonville rolled past Carolina 8-2 in Southern League play Sunday afternoon.

The Mudcats lost their seventh straight outing.

Jacksonville (10-6 overall) and Carolina (6-11) exchanged solo home runs early in the game, with Stanton connecting in the first inning. Chris Denove evened the game with a home run to left to lead in the second inning.

However, the Sun sent 12 batters to the plate in the sixth, with Mudcats hurler Dallas Buck allowing a triple, sacrifice fly to Matt Dominguez and then a walk before departing. Sean Watson entered and did not retire any of the first six hitters he faced.

Stanton drilled a line-drive homer to left with two aboard as the Suns pulled away.

Buck worked 51/3 innings, surrendering three runs on five hits, yet lost his third straight start.
