FAYETTEVILLE -- Blake Floars' base hit scored the go-ahead run in Faith Christian's 11-5 win in eight innings at N.C. Christian Schools Association 2-A Coastal foe Berean Christian on Thursday.

Starting pitcher Nick Gourley paced the Conquerors (5-0 overall) with four hits. Matt Lambert added three hits.

Eagles soar

Rosewood breezed past Carolina 1-A Conference foe Goldsboro 18-2 on Thursday.

Pitcher Jonathan Franks earned the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits with six strikeouts in 42/3 innings.

Chargers defeated

State-ranked Lawrence Academy held Wayne Country Day to five hits in a 16-0 road win on Thursday.

The Chargers also committed four errors.

Cody Neal collected two hits for Wayne Country Day. Cameron Ford, Tyson Pearson and Dare Uzzell each had hits.

The Chargers (5-6 overall) entertain Greenville Christian next Thursday.

Eagles grounded

ROCKY MOUNT -- Dylan Smith doubled and Luke Howell singled in Wayne Christian's 12-2, non-conference loss at Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Thursday afternoon.

Howell, Gregory Johnson and Smith also pitched.

The Eagles fell to 5-5 overall.

Soccer

CBA stumbles

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock suffered a 5-1 non-conference loss to Rocky Mount at Hardy Talton Stadium on Thursday night.

Tara Simmons scored the Golden Falcons' lone goal off Elvia Rodriguez's assist in the second half.

Aycock (7-5-1 overall) entertains North Lenoir on April 14.

Softball

WCS wins big

ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Christian scored 10 runs in the third inning and rolled to a 19-3 win at Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Thursday.

Rachel McCollum, Sarah McCollum and Courtney Barrow all contributed three hits for the Eagles.

Wayne Christian (5-1 overall) plays host to Community Christian on April 12.

Saints top Warriors

Southern Wayne picked up its first Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference victory of the season with a 7-2 win at Eastern Wayne on Thursday.

Hope Rose (two RBI) and Kayla Gracyk (RBI) each had two hits for the Saints. Charity Wright, Madison Davis, Taylor Davis and Brittany Pate each had a hit.

Madison Davis tossed a complete game scattering four hits and striking out six to earn the win in the pitcher's circle.

Southern Wayne (3-9 overall, 1-3 ECC) plays host to Spring Creek next Thursday.

Track

EW prevails

LaGRANGE -- Eastern Wayne's girls compiled a team score of 74 and captured first place in an Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tri-meet on Thursday.

Host North Lenoir tallied 64 points ahead of third-place Charles B. Aycock's 31 points.

Tiarra McIntyre finished first for the Warriors in the high jump and the 100 meter hurdles. Tamiya Dortch earned a first-place finish in the long jump. Tia Jones crossed the line in first place in the 400 meters and the 800 meters.

Ayanna Decruz was first in the triple jump and the 300 meter low hurdles. Madaline Edwards came home first in the 3,200 meters.

Tennis

Chargers win

Wayne Country Day defeated Eastern Wayne's JV squad 7-2 on Thursday.

Michael Knuston, Thomas Elmore, Jack Langston, Raul Chittila and Alex Nolan each recorded singles wins for the Chargers.

The tandems of Knutson-Langston and Elmore-Williams were also victorious.

It was WCDS' first win of the season.
