Woodard finishes eight in tourney

CHARLOTTE -- Princeton High alum Scott Woodard tied for eighth out of 45 golfers as Mount Olive finished sixth out of nine teams at the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational hosted by Wingate University.

Woodard followed a first-round 79 on Monday with a 75 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 154. Ryan Campbell (156) tied for 14th, Fabrizio Ceppi (158) tied for 21st, Clark Rose (160) tied for 29th and Kyle Simpson (163) tied for 35th.

The Trojans conclude regular-season play this weekend in the Carolina Sands Invitational at White Lake. The 36-hole event will be contested Friday and Saturday.

Women's golf

CHARLOTTE -- Valentina Urquiola finished 15th and Emelie Andersson placed 16th out of 60 golfers as Mount Olive finished 11th out of 12 teams at the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational.

Urquiola shot an 82 in Monday's first round and carded an 84 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 166. Andersson carded a first-round 84 and followed with an 83 Tuesday for a 167. Tegan Skirpstas (187) finished 50th, while Lindsay Becker (196) finished 56th.

MOC returns to action Apr. 18-20 in the season-ending Conference Carolinas Championship at Clemmons.

Softball

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Mount Olive was swept by Coker College in a Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.

Rosewood alum Aubrey Reinhard swatted two home runs as the Trojans fell 4-3 in the opener. The Cobras took the nightcap, 3-2.

Mount Olive (14-24 overall, 5-6 CC) entertain St. Paul's (Va.) University today. First pitch is 3 p.m.
