PIKEVILLE -- Coming off an uncharacteristic early-season loss in conference play, Charles B. Aycock found its redemption Tuesday afternoon.

Particularly pitcher Autumn Pittman.

A hard-luck loser in muddy, rain conditions just four days ago in the circle, Pittman threw a no-hitter in the Golden Falcons' 7-0 victory over Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Eastern Wayne. The right-hander faced one batter over the minimum for a seven-inning contest, and logged five strikeouts.

"She hit every spot ... all of them," said Aycock head coach Brad Matthews. "She pitched as good a game as I've seen her pitch. She worked in and out with good location, and was jamming them."

Pittman induced the Warrior batters into 11 groundouts and five flyouts. A third-inning error prevented her from recording a perfect game. First baseman Brooke Bell posted 11 putouts, while shortstop Rachel Jordan recorded six assists.

"I was afraid of a letdown, but everyone was eager to get back on the field," said Matthews. "It was a total turnaround from the other night."

C.B. Aycock (6-3 overall, 2-1 ECC) pounded out 11 hits offensively.

Courtney McGowan delivered the game-winning RBI single in a three-run, second-inning outburst. Freshman Amber Rose supplied a two-RBI base knock during that stretch.

Pittman aided her cause with a two-RBI single, giving her a team- and county-leading 20 RBI this season. Bell, Jordan, Courtnei Gilbert, Ashley Shingleton, Connor Davis and Sarah Beth Marquis (RBI) each contributed a hit.

Misty Edwards batted 2-for-3.

The Golden Falcons entertain preseason ECC favorite Triton on Thursday. It's a rematch of last year's eastern regional championship, won by C.B. Aycock.

First pitch is 7 p.m.
