PIKEVILLE -- Elvia Rodriguez scored twice in the first 14 minutes and Charles B. Aycock rolled to a 4-0, non-conference win over Rosewood on Wednesday afternoon.

Rodriguez got Aycock on the board two minutes into the game. The senior scored again in the 14th minute. Madison Mercer beat Eagles' keeper Taylor Johnson in the 28th minute to give the Golden Falcons a 3-0 lead.

"We told the girls to come out and we wanted a really strong first 10 minutes to kind of set the pace of the game," said Aycock head coach Adam Livengood. "We made some changes and shifts toward the defense to make sure the game is taken care of. We figure if we can secure the game that way, then we can loosen up and try to run the offense a little better."

With seniors Gabby Cornman and Kelsey Wolfe sidelined with injuries, Rosewood struggled to generate scoring opportunities.

"They beat us to all the balls, and they moved it around a lot better than we did and they just took us out of our game," said Eagles head coach Eddie Maldonado. "Not having Gabby up top hurts, and we kind of have to move everyone else around and adjust for us. We just weren't aggressive. I think they got a big awakening today."

Jessica Price found the back of the net in the 73rd minute to cap the Golden Falcons' scoring.

Aycock (2-2-1 overall) entertains Princeton today while Rosewood (3-1) faces Lejeune on Saturday in Wilson at The Brittany.
