WILMINGTON -- Eastern Wayne allowed eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 10-0 loss at New hanover High School on Saturday afternoon.

Logan Wicks started the game on the pitcher's mound and allowed two runs in five plus innings. He suffered the loss on the stat sheet.

Cambric Moye led the Warriors (1-3 overall) at the plate with two hits.

Eastern Wayne will host J.H. Rose on Tuesday.

Golf

York records ace

Glen York collected his first-ever, hole-in-one the par-3, No. 12 at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course. York used a 7-iron from the blue tees.

Playing partners Robert Shepherd, Kenneth Loftin, Roosevelt West and Jim Alston witnessed the feat.

Walnut Creek LGA

Nancy Satterfield emerged the play-of-the-day winner as the Walnut Creek Ladies Golf Association kicked off their 2010 season.

Jewel Ivey claimed low gross in first flight, while Charlotte Campbell took low net. Pete Reaves seized low gross in second-flight competition. Joyce Reynolds had low net.

Novella Zambelli won low putts for the field.

JV sports

* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 9, Wilson Hunt 2 -- Collin DuBose homered and doubled in a 3-for-3, two-RBI effort. Cameron Taylor (three RBI) collected four hits, including a double. Justin Barbour contributed three hits, including a double, and three RBI. The Golden Falcons improved to 4-0 overall.

Middle schools

* Faith Christian-RM 12, Wayne Christian 2 (5 inn.) -- Tanner Rose batted 2-for-3 for the Eagles, who fell to 0-2 overall this season. Brandon Price, Hunter Burt and Jacob Riffle contributed one hit apiece. Wayne Christian travels to Grace Christian of Sanford on Monday.
