MOUNT OLIVE -- Mike Knox, Bobby Leeper and Jesse Lancaster each slugged a home run to lead unbeaten and nationally-ranked Mount Olive College to an 18-8 trouncing of Coker (S.C.) College on Monday afternoon.
The Trojans, who climbed to No. 16 in this week's Collegiate Baseball top 30 poll, completed a three-game sweep of the Cobras in the Conference Carolinas series.
Leeper tied a school record with five runs scored and swatted his team-leading fourth homer in the seventh inning. Knox ripped a two-RBI homer in the eighth inning.
Lancaster crushed his first homer of the season in the second inning. Fellow returning starter Dylan Holton contributed three hits, including a double and three RBI on the afternoon.
Mount Olive (5-0 overall, 3-0 CC) cranked out 18 hits against four Coker pitchers and finished with 49 hits in the three-game set.
Trojan hurler Curtis Hudson, in his first start, claimed the mound win. He scattered five hits, fanned three Cobra batters and didn't issue a walk in a five-inning stint. Relievers T.J. Hinson, David Combs, Ryan Williams and Jeremy Nowak combined to throw the final four innings.
Mount Olive returns home Wednesday for a non-conference contest against Shaw University. First pitch is 2:30 p.m. on the Scarborough Field diamond.
