HOLLY RIDGE -- James Kenan earned its first victory of the season with a 72-68, non-conference triumph over Dixon on Wednesday night in non-conference basketball action.
James Owens paced the Tigers with 24 points and nine rebounds. Jeremy Smith tallied 15 points, while Dontrill Hyman added 14 points and grabbed eight boards.
James Kenan improved to 1-1 overall.
JV sports
* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 33, J.H. Rose 19 -- Wayne Christian's Jessica Swets led all scorers with 11 points. Katie Isenhower added 10 points and Britney O'Hara provided five points.
