Lane Tree LGA

Linda Watson claimed game-of-the-week honors during play on the Lane Tree Golf Club links.

Sherry Minner seized low net and low putts.

Walnut Creek LGA

Novella Zambelli emerged play-of-the-day winner on the Walnut Creek Country Club course.

Charlotte Campbell captured low gross, while Mary Morris won low net. Dot Julian took low putts.

JV football

* Southern Wayne 44, Eastern Wayne 22 -- Jamie Dove scored a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Saints and caught a pass for a score. Tyshawn Vann added two touchdowns on the ground and Ivy Strickland had a rushing touchdown. Chris Artis hauled in a touchdown pass. Southern Wayne (4-5 overall, 3-1 Eastern Carolina Conference) concludes its season Thursday at C.B. Aycock.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Eastern Wayne d. Norwayne 25-23, 12-25, 20-25, 26-24, 15-10 -- Eastern Wayne (12-2) earned a share of the Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference Division I championship with Norwayne.
