Local teams in action today

Seven local volleyball teams hit the hardwood today as tournament play begins in both the Carolina 1-A and Eastern Plains 3-A Conferences.
In the 3-A ranks, Charles B. Aycock and Southern Wayne will do battle at 4:30 p.m. with a spot in the state playoffs on the line in Dudley. Eastern Wayne will make the trip to North Lenoir where the Hawks are looking to build on a strong regular season with a quarterfinal round victory.
North Duplin High School will be the site for both Carolina 1-A Confernce match-ups as Spring Creek battles Ayden-Grifton at 4:30 p.m. and the homestanding Rebels play host to Goldsboro at 6 p.m.
