PRINCETON -- David Gurganus threw five touchdown passes and Princeton cruised to a 48-20 win over Spring Creek on Friday night.
It was the Carolina 1-A Conference opener for both teams.
Benton Myers' 5-yard touchdown run and Gurganus' 4-yard pass for a score to Dylan Myers gave the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
Gurganus tossed three more touchdown passes in the second quarter and Princeton had a 41-7 advantage at the half. The Bulldogs' senior quarterback finished 20 for 29 through the air for 236 yards.
Spring Creek rushed for 190 yards inlcuding Ryan Jones 133 yards. Jones also had a 60-yard run for a score in the third quarter. Melvin Deveaux hauled in a a 17-yard touchdown pass from Dontay Boseman in the fourth quarter.
Princeton (5-2) goes to North Duplin next Friday while the Gators (1-6) entertain Ayden-Grifton.

Heide Trask 14
ROCKY POINT -- James Kenan scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and held off Heide Trask for a 20-14 road win on Friday night.
Jonathan Webster's 49-yard touchdown run less than three minutes in gave the Tigers the lead. Ten seconds later, Lee Grant scooped up a Titans fumble and rumbled 15 yards for a score.
After a Trask touchdown, Kendric Faison found the end zone from two yards out.
Seven different ball Kenan ball carriers combined to rush for 126 yards on 28 carries. Sophomore quarterback Parker Jones went 11 for 20 through the air for 96 yards.
The Tigers (4-3) visit Lakewood next Friday.
Ayden-Grifton 20
Rosewood 0
AYDEN -- Rosewood struggled to generate offense in a 20-0 loss on Friday night at Ayden-Grifton.
The Chargers scored twice in the second quarter and added a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles struggled to cross midfield and drove to the Ayden-Grifton 48-yard line but had the drive halted by an interception. The Chargers picked off a pair of Rosewood passes.
Ayden-Grifton compiled 369 yards of offense and 20 first downs, including 336 yards on the ground.
Tarboro 21
Greene-Central 7
TARBORO -- Greene Central played a solid all-around game, but could not get over the proverbial hump in a 21-7 loss to Eastern Plains 2-A Conference rival Tarboro on Friday night.
Staring down a chance to take the lead late in the first half, the Rams turned to the play-action passing game from just outside the red zone. Brandon Suit was hit as he threw and the pass was eventually intercepted by a Viking defender.
Tarboro took the momentum into halftime and made the necessary adjustments to break the teams' 7-7 tie. Brandon Richardson put his team ahead with an 11-yard scoring run. Brandon Dozier added an insurance touchdown at the end of the third quarter with a 76-yard run.
Suit finished with 71 yard through the air and one touchdown, a first quarter strike to Eric Campbell.
Greene Central will have a bye next Friday before taking on Kinston on Oct. 23.
