WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock standout Tara Simmons carded a 1-over par 37 to claim medalist honors during the Golden Falcons' non-conference match with Wilson Beddingfield and Southern Wayne at Wedgewood Golf Club on Wednesday.
Jordyn Howell (56) and Jesse Stewart (58) rounded out the Golden Falcons' 151 team total.
Southern Wayne claimed second place in the three-team event with a score of 164. Darian Edwards fired a 52 to lead the Saints. Mallory Gray (54) and Charity Wright (58) rounded out the scoring.
Both C.B. Aycock and Southern Wayne return to action Tuesday when Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play resumes at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course.

Falcons stop Hawks
PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock overcame a tough shooting night and took care of Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference rival North Lenoir 2-0 on Wednesday at Hardy Talton Stadium.
Juan Pina scored both of the Golden Falcons' goals in the opening half.
C.B. Aycock continued to pressure the Hawks in the second half, but could not find the mark as five shots hit the post and bounced out.
The Golden Falcons outshot the Hawks 20-3.
C.B. Aycock (12-1-1 overall, 5-0 ECC) will play host to South Johnston on Monday, while North Lenoir welcomes Southern Wayne.

CBA sweeps
PIKEVILLE -- Eastern Wayne's Russell Turner bested North Lenoir's Zach Beard by one step to claim first-place honors an the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference cross country meet contested at C.B. Aycock.
Turner crossed the finish line in 18 minutes and 25 seconds, just one second better than Beard. Eastern Wayne's Caleb Cooper (18:58) ran third and C.B. Aycock's Nathan Jones came home in fourth (18:59).
The Warriors won the team competition with 23 points. The Golden Falcons (43) finished second and North Lenoir (72) came home third.
On the girls' side, C.B. Aycock runners Caroline Schlaeppi (23:35) and Kendra Speight (23:41) finished first and second, respectively. Eastern Wayne's Morgan Jeffries (24:12) ran third.
C.B. Aycock won the team competition with a 24-point effort. The Warriors finished second with 38 points, followed by the Hawks with 75.
