Rose hired by Mount Olive

Former PGA Tour professional and Goldsboro native Clarence Rose has been named the men's and women's assistant golf coach at Mount Olive College.

"I'm excited to have Clarence Rose come on board as my assistant coach," said MOC head coach Chip Spiron. "Along with being a Trojan alum, Clarence brings a wealth of knowledge of the game to practice each day, not to mention the knowledge of what it takes to get to the next level.

"We try to recruit golfers who want to go onto the next level after college and his experience on the PGA Tour will help our kids realize how much work it takes."

Rose is a member of the MOC and Clemson University Athletics Hall of Fame. He was also named to the ACC 50th Anniversary Men's Golf Team.

A 20-year PGA veteran, Rose coached Wayne Christian to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A state championships in 2006 and 2007. His son Clark is a junior on the MOC men's team.
