PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock continued to roll though Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play with a 9-0 decision over North Lenoir on the tennis courts Monday afternoon.

Hollie Baker set the tone for the Golden Falcons with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Abbey Strickland, Nicole Kessler, Cameron Howell, Brooke Butts and Amanda Farmer each tallied a singles point.

The tandems of Ashley Howell-Strickland, Katie Gurley-Baker and Kessler-Farmer each triumphed in doubles.

C.B. Aycock (9-5 overall, 5-1 ECC) entertains South Johnston today.

Rams top Tarboro

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central moved closer to another Eastern Plains 2-A Conference regular-season championship with a 6-3 victory over Tarboro on Monday afternoon.

The Rams (13-5 overall, 9-0 EPC) collected singles wins from Lauren Carraway, Elizabeth McLawhorn, Jessica Gray and Abby Sugg. Sugg has a team-leading 15 singles wins this season.

Carraway-McLawhorn and Abbey Dail-Gray each earned a doubles point.

Greene Central continues EPC play today at SouthWest Edgecombe.

Eagles soar

Rosewood swpt through doubles play en route to an 8-1 victory over Carolina 1-A Conference tennis rival Spring Creek on Monday.

Katie Hoff, Marieke Parrish, Brooke Bell, Dakota Hershey and Chelsea Sasser each prevailed in singles play. The duos of Hoff-Parrish, Sasser-Hershey and Elise McSwain-Bell each claimed a point in doubles play.

Rosewood improved to 4-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

Soccer

Saints downed

FOUR OAKS -- Southern Wayne had a tough time stopping South Johnston in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play Monday evening.

Edgar Herrera collected a hat trick (three goals) as the Trojans handed the Saints their first loss in ECC action this season. David Collins added the other goal for South Johnston.

Jesus Rodriguez scored Southern Wayne's lone goal.

The Saints (5-6 overall, 2-1 ECC) visit Eastern Wayne on Wednesday.

Volleyball

Eagles score win

Wayne Christian earned a 25-10, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22 victory over Carolina Christian 1-A Conference foe Cape Fear Christian on Monday afternoon.

Haley Greenwood returned from a lengthy ankle injury to record 16 digs defensively and serve five aces. Brittany O'Hara led the Eagles with seven kills. Kaitlyn Kosuda tallied three blocks.

Wayne Christian (14-5 overall, 8-3 CCC) travels to Cresset Christian today.

Warriors cruise

KINSTON -- Eastern Wayne dominated throughout its straight-set 25-17, 25-16, 25-16 victory over Kinston on Monday.

The Warriors scored 11 points with Emily Sparks on serve.

Carissa Turner dished out eight assists.

Eastern Wayne (4-12 overall) entertains North Lenoir today.

Golf

C.B. Aycock rolls

Tara Simmons used an excellent putting performance to card her best score of the season at Lane Tree Golf Club on Monday afternoon.

The talented freshman fired a 3-under 33 to lead the Golden Falcons to a 134-176 win over Wilson Beddingfield.

Lauren Larison carded a 49 and Jesse Stewart shot a 52 to round out C.B. Aycock's team score.

The Golden Falcons return to action today for an Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference meet at Southern Wayne Country Club.

JV sports

* Soccer: Eastern Wayne d. C.B. Aycock 3-0 -- Tyler Muehlenthaler scored all three goals for the Warriors as they improved to 5-1-3 overall. Andrew Cummings, Preston Daly and Adrian Thompson each delivered one assist in the win.

* Volleyball: Eastern Wayne d. Kinston 31-29, 28-26 -- Elizabeth Aduelo paced the Warriors with three kills. Eastern Wayne (6-10 overall) collected six points with Erin Falcone on serve.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Mount Olive 25-9, 25-10, 25-15 -- Rosewood improved to 5-1 overall. The Eagles travel to Grantham on Thursday.
