MOUNT OLIVE -- Sarah Saunders and Sasha Snyder each threw a complete game as Mount Olive College swept in-state rival Lees-McRae 2-1 and 1-0 in a Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.

Saunders scattered five hits and logged five strikeouts in the opener. She retired 11 consecutive batters before permitting a fourth-inning single.

Snyder (3-2) retired 12 of the final 13 batters she faced in the nightcap. She retired the Bobcats in order in the seventh inning and recorded back-to-back one-pitch outs to end the game. Snyder threw just 55 pitches as the Trojans improved to 3-1 in Conference Carolinas play this season.

In game one, Kat Cahoon supplied the game-tying RBI hit in the fifth inning. She scored on Alyssa Bradshaw's game-winning, walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Former Wilson Beddingfield standout Kelly Minshew delivered a first-inning RBI single to score Cahoon and Snyder preserved the one-run advantage. Cahoon made two sterling defensive plays in the fourth inning to help keep the Bobcats off the scoreboard.

Weather permitting, Mount Olive (12-11-1 overall) entertains perennial power Coker (S.C.) College for a doubleheader on Saturday. Forecasts call for a 90-percent chance of rain.

First pitch is 1 p.m. on the Cassell Field diamond.
