KINSTON -- North Lenoir scratched out a 3-2 win over Kinston on Wednesday afternoon.

Wes Bratley and Will Sutton led the Hawks' offense with one hit and one RBI apiece. Dajuan Gray, Tyler Potter and Benji Harris each added one hit in the win.

Mike Wetherington claimed the victory on the mound. Wetherington notched a complete game and struck out 11 Viking batters.

North Lenoir (3-1 overall) entertains county archrival South Lenoir today at 5 p.m.

Softball

Eagles triumph

Rosewood continued its hot start on the softball diamond with a 3-0 victory over Wilson Fike on Tuesday.

Kayla Ormond led the Eagles at the plate by reaching safely in each of four at-bats. Kaitlyn Armor, Emily Moore and Laura Vinson each contributed one hit in the victory.

Senior right-hander Haley Meadows turned in a complete-game, 10-strikeout effort in the pitcher's circle.

Rosewood (2-0 overall) plays host to Hobbton today.

Tennis

Aycock ousted

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock came up just short in its bid to knock off defending eastern dual-team Class 3-A champion Southern Nash on Wednesday afternoon.

The Firebirds claimed a 5-4 victory on the strength of four wins in singles play.

Blake Vail and Dylan Quinn each picked up a point in singles for the Golden Falcons. The tandems of Vail-Quinn and Addison Westbrook-Ben Nichols each claimed a victory on the doubles scene.

C.B. Aycock (1-1 overall) continues defense of its Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference crown today at Kinston.

Golf

Falcons hit links

Charles B. Aycock played host to Northern Nash and Greene Central at Lane Tree Golf Club on Thursday.

Northern Nash won the meet with a team total of 334. The Knights' Daniel Clayton earned medalist honors with a two-over 74.

The Golden Falcons were led by C.P. Cranford's round of 85. Jeremy Lipscombe fired a 125.

Greene Central was paced by Josh Morris' 81. Josh Ribero (87), Doug Trujillo (98) and Ryan Kornegay (112) rounded out the Rams' scoring.
