MOUNT OLIVE -- Kari Ham's service run helped Mount Olive tally nine unanswered points and turn back archrival Barton College 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-7 in a Conference Carolinas women's volleyball match Tuesday evening.
The Trojans tied the fifth set at 2-2 on a sideout. Ham served two winners and Corie Skislak's block highlighted the run. The Dogs pulled within seven, but Skislak's kill set up match point and Barton obliged with a service error to end the five-set affair.
Alicia Mote paced Mount Olive's attack with a double-double -- 14 kills, 17 digs. Racey Bartley contributed 13 kills, eight blocks and three aces. Ham and Caitlin Skislak finished with 10 digs apiece on defense. Joanie Werling passed out 36 assists.
Senior libero Mallory Peaver recorded 21 digs and climbed to within eight digs of becoming the Trojans' all-time career digs record holder. Peavler has 1,496 career digs and will become just the second player MOC history to finish her career with 1,500 or more digs.
Mount Olive (14-14 overall, 10-5 CC) returns home Friday for a conference match against Converse (S.C.) College. The seniors -- Peavler, Ham, Harris and Skislak -- will be honored prior to the contest.
First serve is 6:30 p.m.
