RALEIGH -- Wayne Christian won five singles and two doubles flights, and claimed the season-ending Class 1-A Carolina Christian Conference women's tennis tournament championship.

Top-seeded Brooke Barfield lost just just one game in two pro-set (eight games) matches due to inclement weather. She earned Most Valuable Player honors and also took home the CCC player-of-the-year award.

Second-seeded Faith Sutton, third-seeded Reagan Hinton and fifth-seeded Jentry Carlyle also emerged victorious in singles action. Sutton lost just three games in two matches, while Whaley dropped just five games.

In doubles, Barfield-Hinton and Samantha Reaves-Savannah Sutton each picked up championshps at their respective seeds. The No. 2 tandem of Sutton-Carlyle finished third.

Wayne Christian returns to action Friday in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A championships, which will be hosted by Barton College in Wilson.
