The Carolina Mudcats are now part of the Cincinnati Reds.

The two clubs announced the signing of a two-year, player developmental contract which runs through the 2010 season on Friday.

"The Reds are a baseball icon and we're proud to have such a highly-rated minor league system coming our way," said Steve Bryant, Mudcats owner. "It speaks well of the Mudcats organization that Cincinnati has been so highly interested in being here."

Cincinnati represents the oldest existing Major League team, established in 1882. The Reds joined the National League in 1890, and have won nine NL pennants and five World Series.
