PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock grabbed five singles points and turned back East Duplin 6-3 on Monday afternoon.
It was the season opener for both teams and head coaching debut for the Golden Falcons' Brad Matthews.
Kristen Fischer, Hollie Baker, Abby Strickland, Nicole Kessler and Harlie Howard each emerged victorious in singles. The doubles of Baker-Amanda Farmer added the Golden Falcons only point in doubles action.
C.B. Aycock (1-0 overall) entertains Greene Central, the reigning N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-A state champion, on Wednesday.
