TARBORO -- Wayne County Post 11 spotted Edgecombe County Post 316 a three-run advantage on Saturday evening, and then turned the tables in the fourth inning.

Wayne County plated 13 runs and cruised to a 14-4, seven-inning decision on the historic Municipal Stadium diamond. Thomas Pilkington's fifth-inning solo home run, his second in the last three games, helped induce the 10-run mercy rule.

Pilkington emerged one of eight Post 11 starters to register one or more hits in the Area I East non-division contest. Tyler Edwards supplied a pair of two-run doubles, while John Wooten contributed two hits and two RBI.

Zach Wright doubled twice and Cambric Moye provided two hits.

Walker Gourley and Nolan Lancaster each batted 1-for-4 with an RBI. Adron Hollowell added one hit in three at-bats.

Right-hander Taylor Allen overcame a shaky first inning to record the mound win. After yielding a three-RBI double, the Rosewood product tossed four consecutive scoreless innings and limited Post 316 to just two hits.

Down 3-0, the first 10 Wayne County batters reached base in the decisive fourth inning. Edgecombe County compounded its troubles with four errors, which led to seven unearned runs.

Wayne County (10-3 overall) visits Pitt County 160 today. Game time is 7 p.m.
