MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College posted a program-best, 84th finish in the 2007-08 U.S. Academy NACDA Directors Cup Standings for NCAA Division II programs.

The Trojans compiled 211.5 points, including the maximum 100 points for winning the 2008 Division II College World Series title. Also collecting points were the men's golf team (36.5) for a fourth-place effort among Atlantic Region teams in the Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional.

Mount Olive's men's and women's basketball teams combined for 75 points after making appearances in the NCAA Division II East Regional. The Trojan women advanced to the semifinals, while the Trojan men lost in the opening round.

"This has been a tremendous year for Mount Olive athletics," said Jeff Eisen, director of athletics at MOC. "We are very proud of the way our teams competed regionally and nationally, and seeing Mount Olive ranked among the national leaders in overall sports excellence is very rewarding."

For the second time in three years, four Trojan teams advanced to NCAA Tournament play. Three teams went in 2006-07.

Mount Olive recorded the highest ranking of any Conference Carolinas member and the third-highest of 17 Division II schools in North Carolina.

The Directors Cup is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Athletics Directors of America.
