MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive remained the top-ranked team in the fourth NCAA Division II East Region men's basketball poll, released Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans (20-4 overall) travel to Conference Carolinas rival Belmont Abbey today, and return home for senior day festivities Saturday against Limestone (S.C.) University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
Men's tennis
THOMASVILLE -- Mount Olive's Vitor Lage has been tabbed the Conference Carolinas men's tennis player of the week.
Lage, a senior, claimed an impressive three-set singles victory against East Carolina. He and teammate Guilherme Serra outlasted the No. 11-ranked doubles team from Francis Marion (S.C.) University last week.
The Trojans (2-4 overall) entertain Campbell on Friday.
Softball
DURHAM -- Freshman Kelly Minshew delivered her first-ever collegiate home run as Mount Olive defeated North Carolina Central 7-2 in game one of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.
Minshew finished with three hits.
Kat Cahoon supplied a career-high four hits and Jenny Jackson mashed a three-run homer as the Trojans took the nightcap, 10-2.
Mount Olive (4-2 overall) begins defense of its Conference Carolinas regular-season title at home Saturday against Belmont Abbey. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field.
