BETHEL -- Helena Davis drained two free throws in the closing seconds and North Lenoir edged Greene Central 45-42 in their Eastern Plains 2-A Conference semifinal-round game Wednesday.

The second-seeded Hawks (16-9 overall) face top-seeded Tarboro for the championship Friday at Farmville Central. The winner secures the league's No. 1 seed for the state playoffs since both teams finished tri-champions with Goldsboro in regular-season play.

Goldsboro is the No. 3 seed.

Greene Central (3-23) forged a 36-36 in the final 2 1/2 minutes, but North Lenoir answered with a 6-0 run. Dominique Graham missed a one-and-one opportunity with 17.7 seconds left in regulation, and Davis closed the door.

Davis finished with a double-double -- 12 points, 10 rebounds. Teammates Enjoli Mason and Jordan Hudson scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Tia Jones paced the Rams with 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Graham and Brittany Jones provided nine points apiece.
