MARION, Va. -- J.D. Baker finished unbeaten in seven matches and Rosewood captured sixth place overall in the Brutal Division of the Brutal Clash Dual-Team wrestling tournament contested this weekend.
Josh Holmes prevailed in six of seven matches, while Brandon Dean and Olivia Neal each collected five individual victories. Arial Nacca (4-3), Jacob Roberts (4-2) and heavyweight Trevor Morris (3-3) also fared well against the stout competition.
The Eagles competed with teams from North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Rosewood defeated Virginia schools Chatham (69-12) and Marion (39-37) on Friday, but concluded the day with a 48-30 to Robert C. Byrd (W. Va.). Coach Bill Edmundson's squad edged Byrd 42-39 on Saturday morning and dropped its next three matches to Abingdon (Va.) 59-15, Chancellor (Va.) 53-24 and Castlewood (Va.) 44-33.

Chargers end up 4th
RALEIGH -- State-ranked Wayne Country Day struggled in the third quarter and Mt. Zion prevailed 62-48 on the final day of the Word of God Invitational.
Floronta Wynn emerged the lone double-figure scorer with 18 points for the Chargers, who finished fourth in the three-day event. Josh Gregory contributed nine points, while Jeff Franklin chipped in eight.
David Wilson scored seven points. Cameron Strickland and Landon Case added four and two points, respectively.
Wayne Country Day (11-4 overall) visits Rosewood on Jan. 4, 2008.
