Trojans' Streeter ranked among national leaders

MOUNT OLIVE -- Brandon Streeter ranks 10th in the nation in rebounding and is among four Mount Olive players to be nationally ranked among the country's top statistical leaders.

Joining Streeter are Kendrick Easley, Justin Melton and Lydell Walker. The Trojans are also ranked in nine team statistical categories.

A 6-foot-6 senior from Jacksonville, Streeter is is averaging 11 rebounds per game this season. He had a career-high 17 rebounds against Queens. Streeter also ranks 48th in the nation with a 59.7 field goal percentage and his 18.5 points per game are tied for 67th.

Easley (6-1 sophomore) is ranked in two categories -- free throw shooting percentage (88.2 percent, 37th nationally) and 18.8 points, which is good enough for 58th overall.

Melton, a 5-11 junior from Yorktown, Va., is ranked in three statistical categories -- 28th in assists (5.7 per game), 44th in turnover-assist ratio (2.43) and tied for 67th in steals (2.3 per game).

The 6-foot-7 Walker is tied for 25th with an average of 2.3 blocks per game. He recorded a season-high four blocks against in-state rivals Pfeiffer and Chowan.

As a team, Mount Olive ranks third in the nation in team blocked shots with an average of 6.8 per game. The Trojans also rank 16th in rebound margin (8.8 per game), 28th in points per game (84.3), 34th in won-lost percentage (.833), 36th in assists per game (17.6), 55th in assist to turnover ratio, 63rd in steals per game (9.5), 64th in scoring margin (9.3 points per game) and 75th in field goal percentage defense (41.5 percent).

Women

Keona Corley ranks in the top 10 nationally in both assists and steals.

A 5-5 senior from Lillington, Corley is ied for fifth in the nation in steals with an average of 4.0 per game. Her 7.2 assists per game average is the eighth-highest in the nation. Corley finished the 2006-07 season ranked in the top 10 in assists and steals.

Also ranked nationally are teammates Lakeisha Monroe, Tomeka Prichard and Brittney Robich. The Trojans are also ranked in six team statistical categories.

Monroe is tied for 15th in field goal percentage. A Division I transfer from Georgia State, Monroe is shooting 60.0 percent (30-for-50) from the field this season and has shot better than 70 percent in two different games this season.

The 5-9 Prichard is ranked in two 3-point-shooting categories -- 64th with 2.3 three-point field goals made per game and 65th in 3-point shooting percentage (38.9). The Havelock native has hit at least one 3-pointer in each of her last eight games.

Robich is tied with Prichard for 3-point field goals per game. The Rockingham native, like Prichard, has hit a 3-pointer in eight straight contests.
