Washington outlasts Eastern Wayne

WASHINGTON -- Washington collected four pins in the final six individual matches and turned back Eastern Wayne 36-32 on Tuesday evening.

The Pam Pack seized a 12-3 advantage, only to see the Warriors answer with an 19-0 run. Senior 125-pounder Chris Tesar started the surge with a 16-1 technical fall over Gabriel Gardner.

Jordan Harris (130 pounds) followed with a 16-0 thrashing of Washington's Jimmy Hardison. A.J. Washington (135) pinned Brandon Rouse in 53 seconds and 140-pounder Zach Hahn capped the run with a 12-6 decision over Josh Stone.

Washington regained the lead with three consecutive falls at 145, 152 and 160 pounds. Eastern Wayne (1-2 overall) triumphed in two of the last three matches contested, but was denied its second dual-team win of the season.

Brandon Darby (171), Foy Coley (215) and Drew Tesar (112) also emerged victorious for the Warriors.

Eastern Wayne returns to action Saturday in the Pierce-Davis Memorial at SouthWest Edgecombe. First-round matches begin at 9 a.m.
