Rosewood at James Kenan

WARSAW -- James Kenan rattled off 21 first-quarter points and rolled to a 43-6 victory over Rosewood in their opening-round, N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-AA (large school) playoff game Friday evening.
Darius Heslip's 65-yard touchdown run less than two minutes into the game gave the second-seeded Tigers (12-0 overall) the lead for good at Bill Taylor Field. Brandon Satchell (134 yards on 15 carries) added first-quarter scoring runs of 65 and 8 yards.
Stedman Mathis (64 yards) and Alex Monk provided touchdown runs of 37 and 1 yard, respectively, in the second quarter. James Kenan led 33-0 at halftime.
Shawn Jones hooked up with Steven Outlaw on a 38-yard scoring pass midway through the third quarter. Jones finished with 104 yards passing on 7 of 14 attempts.
German Funez-Bonilla's 30-yard field goal capped the scoring.
The Tigers, ranked No. 2 in the final Associated Press 1-A prep poll, accumulated 342 yards rushing and 446 yards of total offense.
Rosewood (4-8) avoided the shutout on a fourth-quarter touchdown pass. The 15th-seeded Eagles managed just 102 yards of total offense and committed five turnovers.
Derrick Barden emerged the Tigers' defensive leader with six tackles and two assists. Monk added five stops and a sack.
