SNOW HILL -- This loss could sting for a while.
Greene Central watched a 10-0 halftime lead evaporate into a 21-10 loss to Bunn in the first round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 2-A (small school) playoffs on Friday night.
The Wildcats torched the Rams defense for 312 yards rushing on 63 carries, tallying more yards on the ground than Greene Central had as an offense.
Bunn opened the second half with 14 third-quarter points, taking a lead it never relinquished. The Wildcats added a touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Aaron Harper's one-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter gave the Rams (8-4) an early lead. Abel Real tacked on a 24-yard field goal before halftime.
Tyrell Lane led Greene Central's rushing attack with 86 yards on eight carries. Brown finished 6-for-25 passing for 100 yards and also threw an interception.
Danny Moye led the Rams defense with 13 tackles, two sacks and a tackle for a loss. Reggie Sanders made 10 stops, and Jesse Creech had eight tackles.
