MOUNT OLIVE -- For the second year in a row, Mount Olive plays host to the semifinal and championship rounds of the inaugural Conference Carolinas men's and women's soccer tournaments on Friday and Sunday.

Second-seeded Pfeiffer faces sixth-seeded Queens in the first women's semifinal, which is a rematch of last year's second-round battle, at noon Friday. Pfeiffer blanked St. Andrews 1-0, while Queens outlasted Barton 5-4 in a penalty-kick shootout after the two teams played to a 110-minute scoreless draw.

At 2:30 p.m., the Pfeiffer men (No. 2 seed) face Queens (No. 3 seed). Each team posted a first-round shutout.

The second women's semifinal pits fourth-seeded Limestone against two-time defending champion Belmont Abbey. The Crusaders look to become the first team to claim three consecutive tournament titles, and they're the last No. 1 seed to take it all in 2003.

At 7:30 p.m., nationally-ranked Lees-McRae takes on fifth-seeded Belmont Abbey. The Bobcats, ranked No. 2 in the Division II poll, rolled past Erskine. Belmont Abbey stunned defending tournament champion Limestone 2-1 in overtime.

The women's championship is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday and the winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II championships. The men's final follows at 4 p.m., however, no automatic bid is available to the postseason. Lees-McRae is the top-ranked team in the Southeast Region and could host a regional.

Tournament tickets are $5 each day. Students with IDs from Conference Carolinas schools are admitted free. For more information, telephone Mount Olive College at (919) 658-7759.
