GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Limestone denied Mount Olive's quest for a fourth consecutive appearance in the final four with an opening-round, 2-0 victory in the Conference Carolinas women's soccer tournament Wednesday afternoon.

Seniors Gina Dos Santos, Emily Escolas, April Jacobs, Jackie Jimenez, Kate Painter and Caitlyn Wright exited as the winningest senior class in Trojan history. The six players combined for 56 wins, one Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference tournament crown in 2004, a CVAC tournament runner-up finish in 2005 and a final four appearance in 2006.

Jacobs missed the first-round affair due to an accumulation of yellow cards. Jimenez sat out the first half due to an injury suffered in Saturday's one-goal loss against the Saints.

Mount Olive (7-9-4 overall) had its best scoring opportunities late in the first half as shots by Dos Santos and Lyndsay Brennan went just over the crossbar. But after recording six shots in the first half, the Trojans were held to only two shots after intermission.

Limestone (7-8-4) won the majority of 50-50 balls at midfield and used a 50-50 winner to set up its first goal as Madi Dulisse scored from 18 yards out on a breakaway in the 40th minute. The Saints led 1-0 at halftime.

Goalkeeper Jenn Sastre kept the Trojans within a goal with a pair of diving deflections midway through the second half. Limestone added an insurance goal on a breakaway after retrieving a ball on the touch line at midfield.

Sastre, who started her fourth consecutive match in place of injured goalkeeper Ali O'Steen, finished with six saves. Sastre recorded 36 saves in her four starts.
