HOBBTON -- Three Rosewood turnovers in the first quarter led to three Hobbton touchdowns in the blink of an eye and the Eagles' never recovered in a 41-21 defeat on Friday night.

An opening scoring drive, a fumble to set up another score and a pair of interceptions returned for touchdowns quickly put Rosewood behind 28-0 after one quarter of play.

"We shot ourselves in the foot in the first quarter," Rosewood coach Robert Britt said.

After the opening quarter, Britt said his club settled in and had some success on both sides of the ball. The Eagles strung together and 86- yard 14 play scoring drive in the second quarter. Rosewood added a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

"We moved the ball, being liberal I would saw we had 300-plus yards of offense," Britt said. "We were able to stop them consistently at times on defense."

Rosewood (1-2 overall) travels to Roanoke Rapids next Friday.
