ANDERSON, S.C. -- Casey Hodges tossed a shutout and Dustin Richardson belted his 12th home run of the season as nationally 15th-ranked Mount Olive posted a rain-shortened 5-0 victory over Anderson in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference baseball Sunday.

The game was called after five innings due to rain.

The win is Mount Olive's 16th in its last 17 games as the Trojans captured their sixth consecutive conference series.

Mount Olive (34-9 overall, 15-3 CVAC) got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Richardson, then extended the lead to 3-0 in the second on David Cooper's two-run single.

The Trojans added two more runs in the fifth on Richardson's solo home run and an RBI double by Josh Harrison.

Anderson (20-24, 9-9) loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the fifth, but Hodges (4-1) was able to pitch out of the jam before rain ended the game.

Hodges struck out seven and walked none, while allowing four hits -- all singles.

Mount Olive takes a break from regular season play with an exhibition game Tuesday against the Kinston Indians at Grainger Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m. and tickets are available at the Kinston Indians box office.
