Trojan women play St. Andrews

If the conference standings remain as they are now, tonight's game between Mount Olive and St. Andrews would be a preview of the No. 5 vs. No. 4 game in the quarterfinal round of the CVAC Women's Basketball Tournament. The Trojans hope they can leapfrog into the No. 4 spot by the end of the regular season and host the rematch if it occurs.

Mount Olive returns to action tonight as the Trojans travel to Laurinburg to take on St. Andrews in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women's basketball. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.

Mount Olive (11-10 overall, 7-7 CVAC) is coming off its best-ever defensive performance in a conference game, defeating Erskine 81-29 Saturday at Due West, S.C. The Trojans used a 29-2 run to build a 32-point lead in the first half and were never threatened. Mount Olive held Erskine to single digits through the first 18 minutes of the game.

Sophomore Tomeka Prichard and freshman Helen Moore led Mount Olive with 18 points apiece and were among five Trojans to connect from three-point range Saturday. Mount Olive's 81 points marked the Trojans' second-highest single-game point total of the season.

Moore, who had her streak of 17 consecutive games in double figures snapped last Thursday against Coker, leads the Trojans in scoring with 15.9 points per game. She has reached the 20-point mark five times, including a career-high 25 points 10 days ago against Pfeiffer.

St. Andrews (14-5, 10-4) snapped a two-game losing streak with an 86-85 overtime non-conference win at Converse Monday. The Knights, which received votes in this week's WBCA Top 25 Division II Poll, could be this year's surprise team in the conference after tying for eighth in the preseason coaches' poll.
