Rosewood crushes North Duplin

CALYPSO -- Kasie Braswell poured in a game-high 18 points and Rosewood cruised past North Duplin 61-20 on the Carolina 1-A Conference scene.

Courtney Hill added eight points for the Eagles, who improved to 12-8 overall and 7-2 in league action. Shanita Monroe and Misha Chester contributed six points apiece.

Becca Coats led the Rebels with six points. Jessica Pridgen and Jodie Williamson provided five points apiece.

Rosewood concludes regular-season play at home Friday against Princeton, while North Duplin (1-13 overall, 1-8 Carolina) travels to Spring Creek.

Wayne Christian

stumbles in CCC

Northwood Temple scored the game-winning basket with 1.9 seconds remaining and upended Wayne Christian 33-31 in Carolina Christian 1-A Conference action.

Michelle Krug paced the Eagles with 10 points, two assists and two steals. Brooke Norris contributed seven points, four rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.

Wayne Christian (6-9 overall, 3-5 CCC) travels to Terra Ceia today.

Middle Schools

Brogden girls 32, Grantham 19 -- April Johnson poured in 20 points and ripped down eight rebounds to lead Brogden to the victory. Brittany Brewington added six points and seven steals for Brogden who improved to 5-8 (2-5).

Eastern Wayne girls 46, Rosewood 25 -- Tierra Smith scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Warriors to the win. Maurriel Baker added eight points for Eastern Wayne and Shanté Boseman tallied four points and 13 rebounds. Carly Givens had an excellent game defensively, coming away with 10 steals for Eastern Wayne who improved to 10-4 and will next travel to face Brogden on Feb. 12.
