Rouse listed in weekly Division II stats

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College senior Elijah Rouse ranks among the nation's leaders in four different categories in this week's NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Statistics Report. As a team, the Trojans are nationally ranked in five categories, including a pair of top 10 rankings.

Rouse, a 6-3 forward from Kinston (North Lenoir HS), has the 16th-highest field goal percentage in the nation, shooting 61.0 percent from the field. He is tied for 40th in rebounding with 9.0 boards per game and ranks 41st in steals per game (2.3) and blocked shots per game (1.8). Rouse's 22 rebounds last Thursday against Barton, one off the school record, is the third-highest single-game total in the nation this season. Joining Rouse in the national stats rankings is fellow senior Elton Coffield. A 6-3 guard from Williamston (Williamston HS), Coffield is shooting 43.3 percent from three-point range for the 38th-highest percentage in the country.

In the team statistics, Mount Olive has the ninth-highest scoring average at 87.2 points per contest and ranks fourth in the nation with an average of 6.2 blocked shots per game. The Trojans are tied for 14th with 18.0 assists per game, while averaging the 29th-highest scoring margin per game (11.2) and rebounding margin per game (4.7).

Mount Olive is 12-5 overall and 6-4 in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference after winning 97-57 at Anderson Saturday.

Mount Olive returns to action Saturday as the Trojans travel to Gaffney, S.C., to take on Limestone. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
