Moore's double-double not enough in Trojans' road loss

BANNER ELK -- Helen Moore recorded her first collegiate double-double with career highs of 24 points and 10 rebounds, but Mount Olive was unable to overcome an 18-point halftime deficit in a 78-56 loss at Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon.

Jill Oaks added 13 points for the Trojans, who endured their second consecutive loss and tumbled to 1-3 in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference play.

Mount Olive (4-6 overall) fell behind 11-0 in the first two minutes of the game, but Moore and Oaks combined for 11 points and helped forge a 13-13 tie. Lees-McRae (3-5, 1-2) broke the tie with a 14-1 run and kept a double-digit advantage the rest of the game.

The Bobcats led by as many as 20 points before taking a 41-23 lead at halftime. Mount Olive trailed by as many as 27 points in the second half.

Keshaun Mozee dished out a career-high eight assists for the Trojans. Moore, Oaks and Tomeka Prichard each recorded three steals.

Diana Jones and Stephanie Mullinax led Lees-McRae with 16 points apiece.

Mount Olive travels to Queens University on Tuesday.
