The Mount Olive College volleyball team wraps up regular season play this weekend as the Trojans hit the road for their final two matches. The Trojans travel to Misenheimer today at 7 p.m. to take on Pfeiffer, then head to Banner Elk Saturday at 4 p.m. to face conference leader Lees-McRae.

Regardless of this weekend's results, Mount Olive (8-18 overall, 7-11 CVAC) is assured of hosting a first-round match Monday in the 2006 CVAC Volleyball Tournament. Match time is 6 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.

The Trojans are currently in eighth place in the CVAC standings, a half-game behind Pfeiffer, which is playing its regular season finale tonight. Mount Olive will clinch the No. 7 seed with a win over Pfeiffer and the Trojans will face No. 10 seed Queens Monday. If Pfeiffer wins, the Trojans will be the No. 8 seed and will play host to No. 9 Barton in the first round.

Mount Olive is playing for the first time since Saturday when the Trojans fell to Anderson in five games. Junior Sam Mitchell, who ranks third in the CVAC in kills per game, tallied 22 kills, while senior Nikki Murphy matched a career high with 34 digs.

The Trojans have lost four of their last five matches, but all four losses came against teams in the top five in the conference standings. Three of the losses went the full five games.

Mount Olive's first meeting against Pfeiffer (13-15, 8-11) also went five games before the Trojans pulled out the win. Mitchell led the Trojans with 20 kills.

Lees-McRae (25-7, 17-2) defeated Mount Olive 3-0 in the first meeting in September.
