< ANDERSON, S.C. -- Woody Stilley's goal in the sixth minute gave Mount Olive an early lead and Chase Smith played 85 scoreless minutes in goal as the Trojans recorded their third consecutive shutout with a 3-0 victory over Anderson in CVAC men's soccer Saturday at Anderson, S.C. The win is the Trojans' fourth in a row overall and first in conference play this season.

Mount Olive (7-5-0 overall, 1-3-0 CVAC) got on the scoreboard at the 5:53 mark when Chris Varela's service in the box found Stilley, who scored his second goal in as many matches. The Trojans added their second goal in the 27th minute when Erik Small sent a hard line drive through the gloves of the Anderson goalkeeper and into the top of the net. Bradley Carroll and Ryan Adamski assisted on the goal, which gave Mount Olive a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Anderson (4-7-0, 1-4-0) stayed within two goals until a defensive misplay led to the final goal of the contest, as Adrian Daniels scored in the 65th minute. Daniels has scored a goal in each of the Trojans' last three matches.

Mount Olive finished with a 17-7 shot advantage over Anderson. During the Trojans' four-match winning streak, they've outscored their opponents 14-1 and have outshot their opponents 80-23.

Mount Olive returns to action Tuesday as the Trojans play host to Coker in a CVAC match-p. Match time is 4:30 p.m. at Trojan Field.

ANDERSON, S.C. - Lyndsay Brennan recorded two goals and an assist for the second time in a span of less than 24 hours as Mount Olive defeated Anderson 4-0 in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women's soccer Saturday at Anderson, S.C. The Trojans have won five of their last six matches, including four in a row in conference play. For the second match in a row, Mount Olive (9-5-0 overall, 4-1-0 CVAC) took the lead less than three minutes into the contest as Kirsten White scored 128 seconds into the contest. The goal was the fourth in two games for White, who recorded her first collegiate hat trick Friday against North Greenville. April Jacobs and Caitlyn Wright assisted on the goal. Anderson (4-7-0, 2-4-0) kept Mount Olive's lead at just one goal until the 27th minute when Brennan's service set up Kate Painter with a breakaway opportunity for her eighth goal of the season and her fourth in the Trojans' last four matches. Brennan scored the first of her two goals in the 38th minute as Mount Olive led 3-0 at halftime. Jacobs recorded the assist, her fourth in two matches and her conference-leading 10th assist of the season.

Brennan closed out the scoring less than four minutes into the second half on an assist by Emily Escolas. Brennan is now tied with Painter for the team lead in goals.

Mount Olive outshot Anderson 21-2. The shutout was the sixth of the season and second in a row for goalkeeper Ali O'Steen and the Trojan defense. Mount Olive's defense has allowed only one goal in its last 376 minutes played.

Mount Olive returns to action Tuesday as the Trojans play host to Coker in a CVAC match-up. Match time is 2 p.m. at Trojan Field.

* TIGERVILLE, S.C. -- Kirsten White recorded her first collegiate hat trick and Lyndsay Brennan added two goals and an assist as Mount Olive defeated North Greenville 6-0 in non-conference women's soccer Friday. Kate Painter added a goal and an assist and April Jacobs recorded two assists for the Trojans.

fall to Lees-McRae

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive led by as many as seven points in game one, but Lees-McRae came back to defeat the Trojans 30-26, 30-24, 30-20 in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference volleyball Friday at Kornegay Arena. Sam Mitchell recorded her 10th double-double of the season and fifth in a row for the Trojans (5-9 overall, 4-6 CVAC) with 13 kills and 11 digs. Lacie Smith led Lees-McRae (15-6, 7-1) with a match-high 17 kills.

MOC is off until Wednesday when the Trojans complete their six-match homestand with a CVAC match-up against Barton. Match time is 6:30 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
