WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock's Kelli Forbis claimed medalist honors with a 37 and teamed with Brooke Newell (46) to boost the Golden Falcons to a win in a Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference match on Monday at Willow Springs.

Forbis also recently won the women's club championship at Lane Tree, while Newell won the women's title at Goldsboro Municipal.

Aycock finished with a team score of 83, while Eastern Wayne followed at 91 and Southern Wayne took third at 98. Wilson Beddingfield (104) and Wilson Hunt (128) rounded out the team scoring.

Jasmine Reeves (39) and Melissa Ricker (52) paced the Warriors' effort.

Jordan Hill (46) and Alyssa Bradshaw (52) led Southern Wayne.

The next scheduled ECC match is Sept. 25 at Wedgewood Country Club in Wilson.

Eastern Wayne's Bryan Coltrane scored two goals in the Warriors' 6-0 win at home over Southern Wayne on Monday in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference opener for both schools.

Eric Suncin, Geordi Brown, Jace Muelenthaler and Matt Wolf added one goal each for Eastern Wayne (4-3-1, 1-0 ECC), which outshot the Saints, 19-5.

Southern Wayne (0-3, 0-1) travels to Wilson Beddingfield on Wednesday, while the Warriors travel to Wilson Hunt.

RALEIGH -- Wayne Christian's Doug Johnson captured the boys meet with a time of 20:26, while Jennifer Price won the girls meet with a 24:40 as the Eagles participated in a two-team event at Wake Christian on Monday.

Wake claimed the boys meet 25-30 and the girls meet 23-32.

Wayne Christian's Justin Brathwaite finished third at 22:05 as Martha Summerlin placed fifth for the Eagles' girls with a 29:35.

Wayne Christian returns to action at home on Thursday for a Carolina Christian 1-A Conference meet.

unbeaten in league

Rosewood remained unbeaten in Carolina/Super Six 1-A Conference play with a 9-0 sweep over Spring Creek on Monday.

Sidney Worrell, Missy Bailey, Erica Nichols, Jamie Andrews, Jillian Casey and Karli Beasley claimed straight-set wins for the Eagles, who improved to 4-2 overall and 4-0 in league play. The doubles combinations of Worrell-Andrews, Bailey-Nichols and Casey-Janneke Parrish helped Rosewood finish off the sweep.

The Eagles host North Duplin on Wednesday, while the Gators look to bounce back Thursday against the Rebels in Seven Springs.

Bulldogs sweep

PRINCETON -- Princeton's Brittany Davis dished out 16 assists in the Bulldogs' 25-6, 25-15, 25-8 win at home over Goldsboro on Monday.

Stephanie Daughtry delivered seven kills for Princeton (10-2), while Cynthia Peedin added six kills. Kortnie Yutzy and Tiesha Williams combined for eight kills and seven aces for the Bulldogs, who host North Johnston today in Class 1-A Carolina Conference action.

The Cougars travel to Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference foe Farmville Central today.

Chargers topple

Parrott Academy

Wayne Country Day's Ashley Clark posted 16 assists and served up seven aces as the Chargers swept Parrott Academy, 25-23, 25-13, 25-14 at home on Monday.

Stephanie Sykes added eight kills and seven digs for WCDS (5-6), while Shelly Sullivan provided seven digs and five aces. Kayla Flanagan and Bre Radford combined for nine digs for the Chargers.

WCDS travels to Oxford today.

Cougars cruise

past Trojans

TRENTON -- Goldsboro's Dustin Uzzardo connected with Tyquan Sprangle and Marquese King for a pair of long touchdown passes in the first quarter as the Cougars rolled to a 42-8 win at Jones Sr. on Monday.

Tropical Storm Ernesto washed out the regularly scheduled meeting between the two schools on Aug. 31.

Uzzardo finished with 120 yards through the air on 7-of-10 passing with one interception. A.J. Parker paced Goldsboro's ground attack with 10 rushes for 140 yards and two touchdowns, while Darren Pittman posted 126 yards on nine carries. Sprangle and Tyre Vaughn added rushing touchdowns for the Cougars, who improved to 4-0.

Goldsboro coach Danny Merritt applauded the defensive efforts of Johnny Artis, Darrick Williamson, Lamar Hicks and Mike Langston.

The Cougars travel to Wilmington Hoggard on Thursday.

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock claimed an 8-1 win over Southern Wayne in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference action on Monday at the Falcons' courts.

Alicia Sodoma, Hollie Baker, Nicole Kessler, Cynthia Burroughs and Nicole McGrath emerged with singles wins for the Falcons, while the tandems of Sodoma-Baker, Kessler-Burroughs and Kristen Fischer-Ashley Howell swept the doubles.

Southern Wayne's Leigh Ann Jarman claimed her team's lone win at No. 4 singles.

Aycock (2-2) travels to Greene Central on Wednesday.

Spring Creek volleyball def. Dillard 25-6, 13-25, 25-7, 25-13, 25-9 -- Hannah Brown, Mallory Frederick and Whitney Frederick turned in solid efforts for the Gators (1-2). Amanda Garrett, Cherisse White, Z'SaVae Phillips and Shikera Campbell led Dillard. Spring Creek travels to Brogden on Thursday.

Norwayne volleyball def. Brogden 25-10, 26-24, 25-13 -- Norwayne (3-0, 1-0) hosts Greenwood on Monday.
