KINSTON -- Salem starting pitcher Felipe Paulino held Kinston to two hits in seven innings as the Avalanche beat the Indians 4-1 Thursday night at Grainger Stadium.

Paulino (7-7) struck out seven and walked just two as Kinston batters were held to just four hits on the night.

Up 1-0 in the sixth inning, Salem's Ole Sheldon hit a two-out, bases-loaded single off of reliever Mike Finocchi that scored two and made the score 3-0.

Kinston's Scott Lewis (3-2) picked up just his second loss of the season after going 52/3 innings and giving up five hits and three earned runs.

Kinston got on the board in the bottom of the ninth inning on an RBI single by Rodney Choy Foo.

The K-Tribe had the bases loaded with two outs in the ninth, but Javi Herrera struck out to end the game.

Kinston has a quick three-game road trip at Potomac this weekend. Mariano Gomez (2-3, 3.46) takes the mound today for the K-Tribe at 7:05 p.m. in Woodbridge, Va.

Kinston returns to Grainger Stadium on Monday for a seven game homestand, their final homestand of the regular season.
